Renata Maia de Needell

Clinician

Renata (she/her) is a graduate student at the University of Florida, obtaining her master’s and specialist’s degrees in Mental Health Counseling. Her approach to therapy is integrative and holistic, though anchored primarily in Existential and Narrative therapy. Renata’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, empowering, open-minded, and supportive. She is a big advocate of mindful practices, creative expression, and child-centered play therapy.

Her professional interests are centered primarily in navigating a sense of self, anxiety and depression, relationship patterns, sexual wellness and sex positivity, identity exploration and development, PTSD and trauma, and forming a positive self-concept. She has experience working with a variety of identities, and is queer- and kink-affirming. Renata applies a feminist, multicultural, and trauma-informed lens to her work. She believes strongly in advocacy, social justice, and giving a voice to the marginalized populations in our community.

Outside the office, Renata loves spending time in nature, gardening, painting and writing, and spending time with loved ones.
